New Teachers

Very first things to do (within 30 days after being hired)

Regular Sector Teachers

  1. Send a General Offer of Service - G.O.S. Δ now (within 30 days of hiring) to Human Resources (HR). When you submit the G.O.S. you automatically apply for any courses you are eligible for in regular day, continuing education courses and Summer term courses. If you do not submit your G.O.S. you will have to apply individually to postings. If you refuse a posting after you have submitted your G.O.S. you will have to apply to individual posting. You do not lose your priority by refusing a post. Every April teachers submit a G.O.S .for the following year . In April you can download the G.O.S. form and submit it to the College by April 30.
  2. Get your scholarity evaluated. Bring HR all your official transcripts and diplomas (within 30 days), or bring an official Attestation de scolaritÚ from the Minister of Education.
  3. Get your experience evaluated. Get letters from previous employers confirming past employment experience and submit them to HR (within 30 days). Any job can be credited, not just teaching, provided it is somewhat related to your discipline. If you were self- employed, you need to document your work. Contracts or other documentation will work (contact the DTU).
  4. Become a DTU member. This costs only $1 and allows you to vote at general assemblies. Download the DTU Membership Application Form.

If you do not submit your GOS you will have to apply individually to postings. If you refuse a posting after you have submitted your GOS you will have to apply to individual posting. Since Continuing Education teachers are only paid based on scholarity, they do not need to get their experience evaluated. However, if you foresee moving to the Regular Sector, it might be a good idea to have your experience evaluated now (to prevent future delays) or at least to gather the documentation.
